Rogers "Blue Strata" Fullerton kit

From kevins

Lots of folks around here frown on the aluminum foil method.... it will leave scratches. Some say it doesn't.....On nice chrome I prefer Cape Cod polishing cloths, but to each his own.

I have to say, these lugs are pretty well pitted so if you have nice hardware it might be too abrasive. I can't see any scratches though -

Got my Blue Strata kit today and spent the last three hours on it - amazing how the chrome comes back to life. Only problem I'm having is matching hex rods to swivo fittings - they are all marked Rogers, not Swivomatic (the English stuff) but some hex bars are so loose, on angled swivos the wing nut hits the dome of the bolt! are there more than one size?

Lots of times you can't see them.... but they are there.

I just don't see using abrasive methods on chrome when there are gentler, and more effective methods.

But again, to each his own.

Hi Guys

Thought I would update you on this restoration. Its all done bar a couple of items. I am short of one bass drum spur, but have made one up out of 3/8ths stainless steel bar. And one hoop from the rack tom is not original. I have changed quite a few lugs with those from 9/72 kit I have. I also have a Swivo cymbal hex rod, not shown in the pics. Anyone spot a slight error here?

The kit sounds unbelievable. I tried loads of heads and finally came down to emperors to control the sizes. I didn't like pinstripes. The 24" bass has Superkick 1 on it and is amazing. I now have a 1980's Ludwig 402 supersensitive to go with it, also with emperor batter a la Bonzo. Shame I can't play like him.

Cheers! John Chapman:)

Your tom holder in the picture is a Japanese imitation - not Rogers. Just thought you'd like to know...

Those are very nice.I'm building a Tama Superstar in the same dimensions and am going a similar route with the heads, except G2 coated and G1 coated on the bottoms. Are you using any other muffling on the bass?Is the front head wide open?
