Rogers "Blue Strata" Fullerton kit Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Hi - am about to take possession of a blue strata Rogers kit. It is 24 14 18. The kick is a Holiday, the rest are powertone. How rare is this? The kick serial is 27378, small tom 24873. Anyone know how old they are?

I know blue strata is rare but are these sizes unusual.

The wrap is really nice, shells are good, the chrome is poor. The colour: some blue strata on the net seems greenish - these are dark blue, maybe they have not faded. Also: the wrap is overlapped on the toms, at which point it is a lighter blue. Was it usual to overlap the wrap? Most kits I've seen - certainly my english Rogers was butt jointed. I also have bare shells for a 22 13 16 kit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a black strata Fullerton kit. Yeah, my wrap is overlapped and is a little noticable. Doesn't concern me though because it is still as tight as new!!

Blue Strata was made in the earlier Dayton era as well. That blue is ligher in shade pearl batch. Also they weren't prepping the exteriors to darken out the clear spots in the pearl. Earlier strata can have spots of orangy mahog underneath some glue strata swirl. The pic below has the deep strata Fullerton dark blue color too. The pink is a Luxor and the Black a Tower. Your set is from the early 1970s. Toughest strata I feel is pink then black then blue for Rogers. Those larger sizes are proper for the era in which they are from. Nice set! Peace, Gary

This must be the blue/black strata support thread. I also have a blue strata, pretty rare stuff. I have been searching for a 12inch tom to match my 13/16/22 for years. The original posters' sizes are pretty rare in the blue strata color. Do all the toms/drums have tags on the inside?

Hi - thanks for that. The tags are all there. floor tom is 24840, powertone Fullerton, immaculate inside and almost perfect bearing edge. Interestingly,(get a life, kid) the Holiday bass has plain washers and the toms have star washers, now rusty. Thanks

For matching snare strata drums I've found the majority in blue. Some in black and even less in pink strata.

Hi Again - I lied about the washers - the eyes and camera are not so good - the Holiday bass has smaller star washers. I'm sure many of you guys know this but the chrome is coming up really nice using small squares of aluminium foil dipped in water rather than chrome cleaner. Rub until you see a grey deposit, then wipe off and buff - amazing - I'll never buy chrome cleaner again. It apparently leaves a thin coating over the chrome which gives it the shine. And T cut of course for the wrap.

Lots of folks around here frown on the aluminum foil method.... it will leave scratches.

Some say it doesn't.....

On nice chrome I prefer Cape Cod polishing cloths, but to each his own.
