Rogers Pink Ripple Pearl wrap

From The Ploughman

I think you need the input of some respected Rogers Collectors on this. Ive seen elongated holes before, you do not have them on this drum, not in the pic Ive seen. I would fight it. I think the real problem here is buyers remorse, and hes not happy with the color match.

Yes, agreed.... it would appear this is more likely so....

~ No elongated holes

~ Footprint-Fade on the wrap (lug off) suggests the Beavertails were the originals

~ seemingly no sign of old B&B footprint on wrap, or washer footprint on paint; that the pics show at least...

From knavel

I would offer to accept the final judgment of a drum expert like Steve Maxwell --whoever is close to the buyer (since he has the drum). If buyer is right you refund and pay for the opinion. If you are right, he pays the appraisal and can go pound his new 14" drum.

Damn, this Forum has some smart members. Great idea.

In next communication, point out that the drum appears to NOT have any of the telltale signs of the Beavertail lugs being non-factory.

Tell him to get a professional evaluation of it. If he comes back with written evaluation from a vintage drum shop stating unequivocally that the drum used to have B&B's, then do the refund, etc. as Knavel suggests.

BTW...I actually just read your Item Description on the auction.....

...quite honestly, I think your semantics covered yourself here. Unless the buyer specifically asked you for an assurance that the lugs were original...personally, I don't think he has a leg to stand on at all.

Well guys,

The buyer has come clean about the lugs. Now, it is original.

Apparently, now he wants to play the "it's been repainted" card.

I kindly told him, I'll fight him till the end on this. I believe whole-heatedly this is from the Rogers factory. I asked him to end the eBay dispute.

Thanks again for everybody's input on this.

His admission proves what other posters here have already stated re his buyer's remorse. Now he's just being silly. You don't need any expertise now to make an argument with Ebay that he has no basis to dispute...."repainted"? A wrap?

Take him to the mat and please keep us updated!

I got him. Red-Handed.

He sent me pics, trying to say the drum was at one time painted red... Really? Well those pics you just sent me, the interior was white?!?!?! And that WRR really does not look like the drum I sent you (which had Grey interior)...

What an a**hole this guy is.

eBay name: ChuckBrackett

Don't deal with him.

Thanks.

eBay closed the case in my favor. It was the pics of the white interior that did him in.

I'm officially taking a vacation from all eBay dealings for awhile... This one sucked.

Thanks again everyone for your input and support.

Ya know, as much as you end up with wackos on ebay, I can't imagine there's another place where you could get 1200 for a floor tom.

And, as high as that price seems, the amount of increased value it would have on a set either missing the floor, or having a 16 makes it worth it.

In the long run, I'd bet that seller could re-sell the drum and get 1200 for it.

From Rich K.

In the long run, I'd bet that seller could re-sell the drum and get 1200 for it.

That's the one thing I don't get. Why not just flip the drum if it didn't match or whatever. Why hassle the seller, to no avail, stir up a bunch of ill will, etc. etc. ?? Pointless.......
