Well, for starters, the wood Dynasonic snare is rare and quite desirable, and believe it or not is worth more than everything else combined! $2K + for the snare alone.

Here are some more photos. I hope this helps. The Snare is the one I am most interested in dating. But the rest I want dated as well. Do you know of a Serial # database or reference guide that can be found?

Thanks

wscottcoates!...

There is no PERFECT system/database for dating, but over the years a bunch of us have put together a system that can certainly approximate the year on Rogers Dynasonic snare drums, and in some cases be right on... in most cases be close enough to give you a good idea. So with that said,

With a serial number of #9144 on your WMP Dynasonic, it comes in at around 1966... but! ... here we go again: You have the LATER "Swivo" strainer on this drum that suggests it's closer to 1967 as that is when this strainer came in... so ... probably late 1966, early 1967.

The bass drum and toms with tag/label numbers in the #56000 area also suggest approx. 1966, indicating that the drums may have come together as a set, but again, this is approx. only, although the numbers in your case do seem to fit.

The tom mounts were certainly NOT Rogers factory installed... ( unless by special order, although I suspect it was done by the owner after the fact ) ... but are correct Swivo-matic. I have a BEAUTIFUL original 1966 Rogers Buddy Rich Headliner set in WMP, as well as a 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity as shown in my avatar, both have WMP Dynasonic snare drums as well. NICE drums!

Thanks for that info Tommy. I guess my question for you then would be, what are they worth? I am not a drummer and these were given to my son to learn on, but he has lost interest. Needless to say, I am looking to sell them.

Thanks again

Hey Scott!...

Well... honesty is the best policy I'm afraid... and I mean that in a good way... for you! The main piece here is without a doubt, the WMP Dynasonic. That is a desirable drum for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which would be the year... the fact that it's a wood model... and the wrap. It does need to be refurbished/cleaned, but is all there from what we can see, and appears unmolested. The Dynasonic in today's market would be worth NOT LESS than $1500.00, and upwards of $2000.00... seriously. Pictures of all sides/interior would be warrented though. The rest of the set in it's current condition would probably bring around $500.00 or so... possibly more... but again needs a little "work" to get them in a real nice area. Still... $2500.00 wouldn't be too bad I think, and again, possibly a bit more all cleaned/polished, rubber tips installed, heads, etc. A disclaimer:

This is my opinion here... others may have a different view, but ultimately, YOU make the final decision!

Thank you Very Much!

I appreciate all your input, I really don't know a whole lot. I have learnt most of what I know in the couple of days.

Thanks again.
