Any issues tuning the double 14's to sound evenly. Drums have a sweet spot so if you hit that spot on one drum, is it hard to get the other to sound as clean and tonal at another point? Just some thoughts and questions banging around in my head.

Maybe you've covered it before. If so, I apologize.

Hey Ploughman! Well...

If posting those pics is wrong... then I don't want to be right! HA!!!!!! Couldn't help myself there... and ... I'll take you comment as a compliment, and I THANK YOU for that! You know, collecting just WMP can be difficult as it is a very unforgiving color over time... but ... one must be patient and always ready for when the RIGHT ONE comes along!

the_drum_dad: Your question is a good one, and it has been posed many times over the years. You are of course correct in stating that every drum "has a sweet spot"... I agree, most of them do. One can't always stay within that range though when trying to "blend" three or more toms with a nice spread, as it were. Having said that, the back 14X14 is "de-tuned" a taste to get it in a slightly lower area than it's brother up front. This poses no problem, and both 14X14's sound "blended together", yet different. The MAIN drum is of course the front 14X14, and that is blended with the 8X12 so they compliment each other... then ... the 2nd 14X14 is added after finding it's best spot, and then gently de-tuned just a taste. That's my approach anyway, and they do sound fabulous too. Back when BR was actually USING/PLAYING both his 16X16's... ( rather than for holding his towel!) ... that's what I heard coming from his as well. When Buddy was with WFL/Ludwig back in the late 40's through the 50's, and then with Rogers, he used BOTH his 16X16's quite a bit. Only in later years did he relegate the 2nd 16X16 to "table" status.

Thanks for asking!

Definitely a compliment. You have some of the finest examples of Rogers Buddy sets I have ever seen in pics. Same for your Dynasonics.
