Rogers Guys Can I Get Some Help? Last viewed: 4 days ago

Loading...

There is a drumset for sale on my local craigslist and I need some ID help on it.

The snare drum is a Rogers, its Big R era with 10 lugs so I think its a SuperTen

The rest of the set has no badges or anything but the lugs appear to be Rogers, the rest of the hardware I am not sure about. So I guess I am asking do you think this kit is a Rogers?

I only have one picture at the moment but I should be getting more at some point today. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the answer is yes, looks like an earlier Big R kit. The inside of the bass drum looks like it could be the 5ply with rings grey painted shell which preceded the XP8 shells – that or it's a big piece of grey foam :). I think it's been refinished ≠ it looks to me like the bass drum hoops might have inlay channels? None of the stands look rogers...

I was thinking they looked painted red to me so I figured it was refinished explaining the lack of badges

Because on badges, the key to that kits Identity is the inside of the shells, and the badge on the snare. With the memriloc hardware,if it is a u.S.A rogers the shells would be grey white speckled with re rings, that would put it around 1976 to 78,if the insides were 8 ply no re ring and hardwood(maple)with grain being horizontal 1979 to 1984.Oh yeah if they are U.S.A they should have paper tags inside identifying the the model and saying fullerton california. The snare badge should read U.S.A.You probably have either a silk purse or pigs ear there,as I remember the rogers 360 and 380 kits had different lugs and hdware,so the other thing they could be is the Island music rogers which had luan shell with the vertical grain.

The drums were made in 1978,79, prior to the introduction of XP8. Five ply shells with those memriloc floor tom mounts limits your set to that narrow timetable. Post more pics. California wine red was offered. I have no idea if your set is refinished, or the color in the pic is just BAD and the badges were removed because some idiot did not like them.

Mojave red wrap, original drums. The script rogers badges may have been removed. Or the Big R badges. Other than the missing badges they look really good to me. A great era for Rogers, early memriloc era, and an under-rated time for Rogers.

Yeah. Ok. So, maybe they are a faded red ... I might be wrong in stating they are pink. But, in my defense, you can never be too careful. One of my best friends, Frank Graumphlem once purchased a kit under the mistaken belief that it was red. Turns out it was pink. Let's just say, Francine lost his chops and has moved on to macrame plant hangers and pot holders.

Dang. I really miss the guy.
