Rogers Cleveland Powertone

I'm looking for some information on this Rogers Powertone. What do these go for? It's Cleveland, b&b lugs, no cracks on lugs. I'm thinking about buying it, but I don't want to overpay and I'm not too familiar with these drums, thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the strainer should be a clockface, not the later one. Bottom hoop is not Rogers. Tension rods for that era should all be square headed (with no flare at the bottom), not rounded.

1974-75 Rogers Starlighter IV New England White 13/16/22 (w/Dyna)
1964-67 Rogers Blue Glass Glitter 12/14/16/20
early Oaklawn Camco Blue Moire 12/14/20
1926 Super Ludwig 5x14
1960-ish Ludwig COB 5x14 Super Sensitive
1960-ish Ludwig COB 6.5x14 Super Sensitive
1970 Ludwig COB Cut-Badge 5x14 Supra Phonic

Yes! That is the famous Clockface strainer. I think it was available on all Powertones that had B/B lugs.

I talked with the owner of the Powertone, he said he had brought it to a drum shop in Dallas and the guy there added some parts that were missing. Apparantly he added the wrong strainer.

He's asking $325 shipped.

Maybe $225-$250 tops would be fair.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

For $325, I'd expect the drum to have the correct Clockface strainer and square head tension rods. While many people don't have issues with non-original t-rods, I do! Especially when top prices are being asked. What's the condition of all the B&B lugs? Any cracks?

From johnnyringo

There are no cracks on lugs.

A definitely plus! I believe that the "Tall Boy" hoops would have been used on this drum. The batter hoop does appear to be correct, but can't really tell about the snare-side hoop. Do you know for sure about what hoops are included?

When you factor in free shipping, that also is a plus. Depending on distance, just shipping a snare drum can easily be a minimum of $30. I'd still do a little haggling and see where the two of you can meet. Keep us informed!

If there are no extra holes, that is a very fair price. You can do a nearly even value swap for the right strainer.
