Good for jvany...this one is doing real well. I made an offer on the drum that I thought was more than reasonable, and now it feels shamefully low! Though I would recommend including a straight-on shot of the strainer...it almost looks like it could be a Jazzfest, and it looks like one bidder has already extracted their bid upon discovering it's not. And these drums are not that rare...there have been 4 or 5 in the last year or so on ebay. But this one is hands down the nicest I've seen.
It's amazing how the stars can align, and a drum gets hit out of the park. Reminds me of OBP Pioneers - a few were selling in the $550 to $950 range, and then BAM! Two sold for over $2000. Then they went back down to the $1000 range.
Or Blue Oyster Jazz Fests - one went for $3000 a few weeks ago, bought by a forum member here (LINK). The next one went for $2650 (LINK). The next one, a very beautiful drum, sold for a measly $760 (LINK)! The vintage drum market is a bizarre thing sometimes.
Thanks,
Bill
