Have you tryed:

1. using light steelwool on the harware (000)

2. using a buffing wheel afterwards

Have enjoyed watching your project. The 1.00 drum is starting to look like a million bucks!

Thank you!

I like your idea of trying to salvage the front head w/highschool logo. I'd try to cut it below the collar so it completely covers the new head. The drum is going to look great!

I'll give the steel wool a shot. I'll try and update this weekend. Thanks for the suggestions and the feedback

Perhaps brass cleaner would work as well.

Downtown Farmer,

I like the idea of cutting the old head below the collar. This may allow me to hold it on with the hoop and not try and glue it to the new head. Thanks

I think there may actually be a finish on my hardware. I am seeing some rust on the paper towel that I have them resting on. I'll try a little steel wool tomorrow and see what happens. It it cleans up some more then I might try the rustoleum from the other thread. I will post some more photos this weekend.

I'm ready for the Remo Fiberskyns to arrive this Tuesday. There is no finish left on the hardware though. It was just rust. Pictures of progress attached. Couldn't help but put a couple of photos of my snare drum in as well. One more photo to follow.

> I bought this for $1 in 1970. I started sanding it in 1972 then I got busy until earlier this year.

LOL - My wife used to call me, Bob Villa on heroin. I'd get the job done, but slowly. You just took my slow-hand crown away. Great project, looking forward to seeing the drums finished and together.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
