I have done it with a Dyna of mine. I used and old shell piece cut in a square to put under the shell (wood wrapped in cloth) and the shell sitting on the wood. I used another piece of the same shell, also wrapped and 2 different hammers. A leather hammer and a soft mallet. I may start making house calls, I was so impressed by my own handywork.

As stated by Tommyp, patience and mechanical knowledge helps. Plus I feel I'm overqualified, I worked in a sheet metal shop for a few years. Nothing like banging tin to get a sweat going....
