Remo "coated vintage emperor" or "coated emperor"

Do the coated ambassadors on the resonent side make the drum less resonant/warmer. What would be the difference if you used smooth ambassadors on the resonant side.

Leaving Bonzo out of this discussion this combo of heads has been used by thousands of drummers before Bonzo basically all he played was swing era sized drums with the same approach re ran up the tension on the resonant side to move more air it is a smart thing to do with big drums you play those heads loose it will sound like a stick hitting wet cardboard most of the quote Bonzo sound came from the recording studio... I still believe that this combo of heads on vintage drums works well no matter what size the drums are my two cents...
