Remo Classic Fit

From SlingerLynn

I'd like to repeat Creighton's question: How soon will these be available? I like the tone of the Aquarian American Vintage heads on my snare drums, but as you stated, Cam, they sounded a tad flat on my toms. Also, I've found that regular Remo collars aren't much smaller than the American Vintage...and I have a Radio King shell that an American Vintage is a tight fit on.Lynn

I can force Remo's onto my Slingerland which are oversized and a touch out of round but they go on a lot nicer after cutting the hoop a few times. AMVs go on a lot easier but they still don't sit perfectly and you definitely can't spin them freely on the shell (before putting the rim back on). Evans 360 heads are somewhere in the middle, you've still got to force them on but it's not as bad. AMVs are a lot easier to tune than the Remos but it's not really what I like for loud rock music. If these Classic Fit Remos can go on as easily (or easier!) than the AMVs I will be a very happy man.

GC says they will be available March 18th, 2017.

Awesome. Can't wait.

Only snare side that I found to work was a Ludwig clear. Also smaller rim. They appear to be no more. Hope Remo offers a no head stamped version. Not holding my breath :-)

Nothing special here but I like them.

Hopefully these work for you then!

Anyone got their hands on some of these yet? I've been told they won't arrive downunder until "sometime in May" by my local drum shop...

Think early March is when offered in USA. Wish there was a "get on the list" suspect going to sell out of first run fast.

Just ordered a 12 & 14 coated Ambassador from Music 123. Looks like everyone's prices are the same, ETA is 4/18. Most interested in how the 14 will fit on a Black Nitron wrapped Gretsch RB FT. Currently using Aquarian American Vintage Thin Weight which I like, but for me REMO and Gretsch are the sound combo I prefer.

Orangemi, please keep us posted with how they go in comparison to regular coated Ambassadors and the Aquarians AVS. I've got another month or so until my drum shop gets them in. I'm really hoping the larger inner diameter allows a wider tuning range; I have to keep my Slingerlands up in a medium range to keep the heads tensioned evenly and singing over the oversize and just-so-ever out of round shells (as expected for drums that are turning 70 later this year)

I to am waiting for my shop to recieve a 14" ambassador, I'm in the UK and they said they would be here on 20th March and I'm still waiting. I don't think anywhere in UK has got them from remo yet.

The 12 & 14 arrived yesterday.Only had time to deal with the 14" FT and the head fit the shell w/o any points of resistance. Tensioned it and found the sweet spot easily. Looks like this head is a winner for this particular drum! Looking forward to getting the 12 up and running and possibly putting the same heads on the reso sides.

Thanks for the update, Orangemi. Was it a noticeable improvement to the sound? Do you think it helps increase the tuning range?
