Question about premier 60s brass snares

Loading...

Both drums sound good. The metal one is brass confirmed by magnet test, and is heavy, the seller thought late 60s, does anyone know what model it is? Maybe a hi- Fi? The snare mechanism works quite well the whole drum I think- all original. I'm having difficulty getting pics of wood Ace. As well as a few more Detailed pics I took. will post when I can. Here is a big up to wills drum shop in Sunderland (UK).the only shop for miles that does 2nd hand. Good guy too.

Here is the wood royal ace. I've never had a birch shelled drum before - makes for slightly more cut/ bright?.[Attachment: 90163]. This has a badge of 'kitchings' music shop.

Well both badges are dated 1960-1968 and the birch/beech is defo a Royal Ace.

The COB drum is a model 37 Hifi and as they had hifi on the earlier drum badges it is probably from 1965-1968.

Nice pair and I look forward to hearing them on Wednesday.

Now all you need is a 14x4 COB Royal Ace which is my favorite for jazz.
