I know it's not a great pic but it's all I have to go by. I have a chance to pick this up for $300. maybe less. Comes with two complete set of cymbals, no info on them, might be junk? I used to have an old set of Premiers years ago and wish I never got rid of them. This is supposedly "vintage" but I can't tell much from the pic, what do you guys think. I'd have to drive about an hour and a half each way..Rich.
Premier guys..Help!
Not much to go on, but the branded head on the kick and the lug size on the toms look identical to my late '90s Premier Cabria kit. I'd request more pics, if I were in your shoes.
Yeah could be either a '97/'98 APK or a '99 1st gen Cabria though I've never seen that finish
I'm pretty sure it's either an apk or xpk.
Apk will have the insides of the shells painted black and a wrap finish.
Xpk will have been left natural inside the shells and most were laquered finish.
1st gen cabrias (late 90s) had the straight through lugs and were also laquered.
Hope this helps
Jack
After a second look, the tom holder arm looks like my Cabria also. Heck, for $300, with cymbals (hi-hat looks like Sabian, maybe B8) and stands, I'd go for it.
Just had another look at the pics, the power toms suggest it's an apk.
I've got an apk which has power toms and 2 1st gen cabrias that have the shallow toms, all the hardwear except the lugs is the same on both kits
XPK/APK from mid 90's on were not black on the inside. That I think finished after the Yamaha ownership ended ('92-ish)
Mine is black on the inside, bought it new in 96
Because of the wrap the ones in the pic look like 1993 APK Special Editions. I have read that some of these are actually made of a weird particleboard and are probably the worst APKs. Can anybody confirm or deny this? There are both earlier & later XPKs/APKs out there that are really nice for the money though. Really any lacquered XPKs I have played sounded fab and I love those 1036 snares! I'd hold out unless the cymbals are something interesting.

The '97 XPK's with birch/eucalyptus shells (small lug, not black on inside) were the pic in my opinion. Near high end quality shells...
