Please could you help me date this vintage premier kit?

Are vintage premier kits with 22" kicks generally seen as more desirable/go for higher prices?

In the States, about all I see are 22" BD Prem kits,so I would say no....

I think in the 60's they offered more 20" kits.....I have one here I am restoring...

@mole-man:

Maybe that the 22" is a little bit more rare than the 20". But I don't think that it has an influence on the price. Quite in opposite: I think the 20" is more desirable.

Here's another actual ebay, going for a bargain:

(Just for the files: a 4c-b303 Outfit plus matching 2001 snare drum in grey shimmer for GBP 375 buy it now.)

Thanks for the info Ralph.

Do you think the 20" is slightly more desirable because it is more classically british (along with the 12" rack tom)?

I saw that kit you've posted. What a beauty. Odd how no one has put a bid in on it yet...

My position is not secured.

Nowadays, a 20" bass drum is highly recommended (... again ...?).

Back in the days, a 20" was common.

In between, the rock era appeared (among others) and required bigger bass drums and huge drumkits.

@Ralph.

In regards to the kit you've just posted, would you say it is early 70's due to all the hardware?

It will be early 68 (or late 67), the shimmer wraps where NOT manufactured for sale till then, it will be the 1st run of this wrap using old silver strip badges, Premier used up all shells so things got random, it is common to get a kit (from 68) with a pre international top tom and a normal sized 8 lug (not 10 ) floor tom or the other way round (normal top tom and pre FT), this can NOT be a mid 60`s kit as that wrap did not get manufactured till late 1967, this is a 1st run blue shimmer kit, nice kit too. The hoops should be the thick lip type that has ridge around the top not seen on later Premier hoops, all pre international hoops had this but only late 60`s normal size hoops had the lip, all latter hoops are different (no ridge lip).
