Please could you help me date this vintage premier kit?

I did read somewhere about 8 lug FT's being international and 10 lug being pre-international so that would add up. Will be interesting to hear what Pete has to say. Pre-international isn't really a problem for me as i'm a single ply coated kind of guy anyway.

I Hadn't noticed the older style mounts for the legs on the FT, good spot!

Also, i've heard lots of talk about Pre-international sized toms but never anything about Bass drums!!

Is there such a thing as a pre-international sized kick?

I've bought from the ebay seller in the past as well. Never had any troubles.

But to me the price is a little bit on the high side (considering that it's been sold in UK, the mother land of Premier).

If you're located in UK, I think you should find more complete Premier 'Outfits' (as e.g. the '303 Outfit' with two rack toms plus timewise correct hardware, pedal and hihat plus cymbal stands) on ebay UK, if you can be patient.

The Shimmers come up from time to time there and the Premier's are cheaper in UK than abroad always. GBP 350 for a 3-pc-set in UK is too much.

I have received answer from Pete, and yes, to his surprise the kit is Pre-International, and he will change its description accordingly.

I have bought from Pete a number of times, always to my satisfaction, and his prices are absolutely fair as I see them, taking into account he has to pay Ebay and PayPal fees, and that he sells reputedly and has a reputation to look for. He has never sold me anything with hidden problems or missing parts.

Also, he is able to get fair rates for shipping, so I think his prices are OK.

Regards

From Jon Petersen

I am 99% sure that the seller - normally trustworthy Peter Burkes - has got the sizes on this one wrong. These ARE Pre-International, meaning limited choice of heads.I base this on the facts that the shape on the hoops around the holes are the early "beer-barrel" shape as opposed to the later "aerodynamic" surrounds - and that the floortom has 10 lugs.I have written Peter to inform him - check if he changes the description in the ad.Pre-International sizes is not a catastrophe, as Remo still makes Coated Ambassadors, prefixed PR. But I would rather have the choice of Coated Emperors too - or even maybe Evans or Aquarians....meaning International sizes will be my choice.RegardsJon

Remo now offers far more pre-international choices

Actual ebay auction in Germany, just settled:

Original Premier 4c-drumset in Grey Shimmer plus 2000 snare drum plus complete and genuine matching Prem hardware set plus Paiste hihats plus Ride cymbals.

Ended up with EUR 422.00.

My best guess was EUR 500 to 600, for all.
