Well, I took a quick look in the snare shell, and it looks like the oh so common vertical grain. I had no idea that a maple veneer was offered on these kits. Would be nice I suppose, from a collectors point, but I really like the sound on my kit. They mic up nice and sound really fat for a small kit.

Sure looks the same Drumdreams. I have the same BD tom mount as yours too. I've actually reverted to using it instead of the snare stand set-up. Mine is plain old luan too but it's a great kit to play and sounds good live and recorded.

The original kit starting this post in an awesome Orange Oyster pearl wrap is non other than an early 70's Pearl Thunderking- the lack of a bass drum cymbal mount and the double toms on the single to double post are all easy identifiers. I have a similar one - same lugs and rack mounts, everything but in black sparkle- great and loud sound. Mine have a grey interior paint which seems factory-

Osaka that catalog pic is great. It's funny because my kit came with the original cow bell and wood block shown in the picture, but they were mounted on a stand. I like the idea of mounting on the bass drum better. Kit pictured, as is, when I got it.

Dule.....any more info on the kit? Did you buy them?

That's a very nice Pearl stencil you've got there. Here's mine- I have the tom mounted on a stand in this shot but I have the same 1 into 2 mount as the catalog. Mine is a 69

Osaka:Can you explane diferencies betwen badges in catalog pic you post and fotos of that Tiger eye?On fotos looks to be latter badge or maybe were in the same time manufactured with diferent badges?

Drumers dream:3 more days,he measured 60cm(24") bass drum,but I am not shure it is ok,mavbe he measured side with the hoop and it is 22 plus hoop.Good news is that it comes with set of Dixie Switzerland cymbals

Mine and the catalog still have the late 60s lettering badge (it's a 69 and the catalog is 69) but the one we are talking about has the early and mid 70s badge. The Thunderkings had this badge up until like 77- here's a shot from the 75 catalog- in it you can see they switched to a different tom mount by then. I would place the orange oyster pearl kit at about 73- by that time 24" bass drums and such were getting popular

Not to hi jack Dule's thread, but I am still wondering weather my kit, and yours are essentially the same kit, just different badges? Did Pearl just have an assembly line, and depending on the day, some kits were badged Pearl, and some got shipped out?

Yes, I think there is almost no difference between Pearl badged kits and stencils in the late 60s and early 70s. FYI and thanks for the compliment on the kits- they are well loved!

Drums gone for about 300$ on auction.Not too me unfortunaly.Could not find actual dimensios of drums.I will try to contact buyer
