Pearl Crystal beat kit - worth the effort?

I bought this kit yesterday from one very poor photo. It's a long way away and will cost a bit in shipping to get it to me. I got these photos after I pulled the trigger and what were described as "barely noticeable cracks in the bass drum and tom" turn out to be very noticeable indeed. On top of that the floor tom looks to be in a bad state.

The question is, are they worth the expense and time to rehabilitate them or should I leave them where they are and re-sell them? They don't owe me much so I probably wouldn't lose much, if anything. I'm assuming those cracks can be fixed. Maybe they can't.

I can't see "rehab" in that set. You could glue it up for a players kit. All those cracks and the floor tom looks melted-Those and Slingerland Phantoms are pretty uncommon, so just to have one at all is something. There is the RCI shell replacement option, too.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I'm not sure I want a project of this scale. The cracks scare me less than the floor tom condition.

Considering you already have a nice MIJ acrylic kit I could see why you might move this one along.If you had a gig that required a clear kit this would be a good no worries rig for that.

Kind of a shame,I used a pearl fiberglass kit with that tom mount and liked it.

I have seen the results of a few kits that you brought back,and I could see why you might think these not worth the time and effort.

Thanks eamesuser. I don't actually have an acrylic set, nor have I even played one. I may have posted about a set that was sale once but I didn't buy it. I've researched a bit and found that these shells were prone to developing a kind of spiderwebbing/clouding inside the acrylic material that can't be fixed. This may be the issue facing the floor tom. Then there are the cracks. As I only play a one up configuration I could just use the 13" (I think it's a 13" not sure yet) but that leaves the BD to fix. Maybe try and get all the drums to a frosted finish some how.

Has anyone successfully fixed cracks like these?
