The general rule of thumb for a 14" from that era would be...If it is more than 1000g then it is probably either a hat bottom or a marching/band cymbal. Marching/band cymbals make nice New Beat style bottoms. If it is less than 1000g then it could either be a top or a bottom from a pair of "matched" hats. Matched means the top and bottom of the pair are a similar weight, and contrasts with New Beat style where the bottom is distinctly heavier.
