Once your collections are complete....

...then what?

Do you put them behind glass and stare at them?

Do you play them?

Do you sell them to other collectors until they are eventually all gone?

Do you take them to your grave?

Sometimes I wonder why we collect anything. Is it our nature to "hoard" things whether we really need them or not? Is it the competition of snatching something desirable away from someone else and then taking dominion over it? It's a curious thing.

What do you do with them once you get them?

Right now, everything I own or plan on collecting will be played.

Most of mine are investments, but I do occasionally play them in a few smaller get togethers. I do use them in various TV shows and movies and freak out the public when I do...

You can see me on my '62 Leedy Dark Blue Sparkle kit on the new TV pilot "New Amsterdam" on Fox this Febuary...

Please keep us updated on your shows with dates/times.....this is way cool

As for what do I do when finished collecting ??? I doubt I will ever finish.....

I told myself as few times already...enough....but then I scan e-bay......

As for me, so far I have only had my vintage snares out in the clubs as the ones I play all have had their own kits.....fair to worse so far.........

The last club made a big deal of not brininging your own kit because thay had a great new set of Pearls.....when I got there, they were piled up in the kitchen next to the slop sink, with the bass in half an inch of water.....

ya gotta love NY bars..........

there are too many sets out there to stop collecting! I don't think I could part with the ones I have now. I have four sons, all play some insrument, two of them mess around on drums. I will leave my stuff to them, I just hope it won't cause any skirmishes! My one son who plays guitar wanted a kit for his home studio space. I found a five piece 1964 Slingerland in very good condition. It has two 12x8 mounted toms with a Leedy mount, a 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms and 20" bass. I would have kept it for myself but someone had the edges recut to 45's, on every piece, ow, so I passed them on to him. Now he has the bug!

I have one vintage Rogers set that is still original. The other 2 sets are made from Rogers orphans so playing them is not an issue. Keep on Pl

Now if I only had a real place to play them. Working with some guys and hope to start ourside the garage soon. By the way, we are all over 50... so have other interets as well. Car Driving2

There's only one reason for me to buy a drum or a kit, and that is to play it. I haven't bought any real expensive collectors kits yet, but even if I did, there's no way I could just sit and stare at them.
