Oldschools bass drum repair

Well, I give up. Need to go back to t he old digital camera for this type of stuff I guess. I loaded these pics from my phone to a folder on my pc, then opened them to see whether or not I needed to rotate them, they were right side up so I attached them and now they are upside down. Oh well, just turn you device upside down.

Hopefully Gary will chime in when he gets the drum put back together and give us a report on how it works.

Thank you!

Yeah those cell phone pics love to be upside-down no matter what! Luckily they came in upside down on my PC so I was able to re-orient them. Nice work as always Jeff!

To anyone following the thread, thought you would enjoy hearing how this project ended.

I shipped the shell back to Oldschool a week ago, he received it and sent me a very nice email saying how happy he was with the work and how grateful he was for me volunteering to do it. Gary has been grateful/thankful throughout this entire project, I have never been thanked so much.

Yesterday was a long long day, started out to job site at 6:00 Am, installed cabinets until 5:00, went to band rehersal right from the job, no dinner. Talked with the band members until 10:45, got home at 11:00 tiered and hungry could not wait to microwave some hot dogs. But here was this box sitting by the door leading to the house from my shop. Had my name on it and return address from Gary. This box was about the size box you would expect to ship a snare drum in. I was so excited I forgot about my hunger and suddenly had a lot of energy. Opened it up and here was this beautiful Slingy snare drum, I could not believe my eyes. This was a total surprise, I had no idea he was doing this. Also in the box was a very nice card with a personal note that really made me feel good!

I just wanted to share this with you guys, Gary is a stand up super nice person, wow, now Im on the thank you thank you thank you side, I just cant get over what a nice thing he did for me. Thank you Gary, we will meet at the show or somewhere in person someday and I really look forward to it.

Well, I finally got the kit put together and gave it the old clean and polish treatment. I never would have been in a position to get this one up and running without Jeff's help. I can't begin to explain how grateful I am for all the time and effort he put into resolving the issue I had with the bass drum shell. It was a project that I certainly wouldn't have been capable of handling myself. Jeff stepped up on a totally voluntary basis simply to help out a fellow forum member. His actions speak volumes to the kind of guy he is and I'll be forever thankful. He did an extremely professional job and constantly kept me informed as he progressed through the project. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Jeff asked me to post a few pics of the kit, once I got it put back together. The kit itself is a Ludwig '66 Downbeat in original sparkling gold wrap. I took a few pics outside with a monogrammed bass drum head and '66 acrolite snare and a few indoors with the original Ludwig script head and '66 Supraphonic snare.

Jeff is a perfect example of why the VDF is, without question, the best drum forum on the net, at least in my opinion.

Great thread and story all around in my book. Thanks to both of you for passing this one to us all...!!

I've seen many outfits of Gary's postured in front of his fireplace over the years.

This one is Top Notch, as always...!!
