Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure, or a good laugh. The Bessy clamps are holding the drum in round. The stick idea is working very good actually. I had gave up on gluing section at a time because the glue was getting under the next section just enough so I could not lift it up to pour glue into it. So I glued all of them and started jamming sticks. I already had the outer sections done but I wanted to be able to pour glue from both sides of each of the center sections.

Are you still gonna have to fill seams ?

And when finished, that will indeed be the strongest part of the shell.. Nice progress..

Odball, I assume you are talking about the spaces between the veneer sections. I do not plan on filling them with anything but the glue has squeezed out between each section and has filled in the gap somewhat.

Mitch, yep, sticks. Might seem too simple but it works very well. Those loose plys dont take much pressure to push down. I actually took a two chunks of 2x4's and scribe them to fit the inside and outside of the shell to use as a forms between the clamps. That worked for the outer 4" but I dont have clamps with 12" jaws on them, so I came up with this idea, well actually its an old trick been using for years. I did need the clamps on the outside of the shell because the sticks do have enough pressure to push the shell out of round without them and I wanted to leave them in there overnight.
