Thanx for the pic of the bass drum lugs.

Attached please find a pic I've taken from my old Star bass drum.

Lug left side: bought as spare part from one of the members here (not Star).

Lug right side: original Star lug.

See the difference?

According to the pic of the tom lugs you made, I thought your bd lugs would be more like the left one, but they aren't. They look like Star's.

Veneered the snare!

Overall the process went pretty smoothly. We used blue painters tape to mask off the parts we didn't want to get glue on. The glue was loctite heavy duty spray adhesive. I almost went with contact cement, but since this my first time, I thought I might need a little more working time while applying the veneer. We wrapped the drums and then used wax coated nylon cords cinched super type to provide inward pressure on the veneer. I just cut the seam after letting the glue cure overnight. I'll post some pictures of the seam after I get the flaps glued down.

- Yes that's a crack in the veneer, we accidentally cut the strip from the damaged side. It's on one of the flaps, so after gluing it down and lacquering it shouldn't be too noticeable.

- The veneer adds enough thickness that drum heads don't fit anymore :( Should I just sand it down? The glue was pretty crazy stuff and so Im doubting I can cut and remove a strip where the heads fit.

Clapping Happy2Clapping Happy2 Very nice!! And as far as the edge fit, yeah, I think I would sand it into the edges, it will blend, an not show up like a sore thumb. Hopefully, the edge work gave you the confidence to do the rest of the sanding, and it should blend nicely!
