My First Slingerland Kit

I am happy to acquire my first Slingerland kit last week, but yet to arrive. A simple white wrap 3 piece from the early 1970s I believe. Something about this just spoke to me. It looks to be in lovely condition. One owner. Lately, other snazzier wraps and other Slingys have become rather expensive, at least according ebay auctions. This plain white wrap kit would have gone well in John Lennon's "white room" in his John/Yoko English home of the same time period (as seen in the Imagine film). Got it at a decent price from the guy who runs the Delaware Drum show. After a crazy last month or two this spur of the moment purchase should help me forget things a bit. I will try to get a matching wood snare w/re-wrap in the near future, as I don't believe Slingerland made such a thing.

More photos when I get it. Hopefully she'll survive this wicked weather. Thanks for looking.

Larry - I can see what attracted you about the kit. It is very classy looking. Old Slingy's get no respect in the marketplace, but they're every bit as good as their contemporaries.

Enjoy them for many years to come.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

You'll have smiles for miles, Slinglerland is the red headed step child of pro drums. They will go toe to toe with any pro brand out on the market today.

Congrats and welcome to the Slingerland Appreciation Society. Adding a wood shell Slingy snare will complete a wonderful drum set. Don't ignore the six luggers. I prefer them to the eight and ten lugger wood snares. And, I prefer the wood drums to the metal shell snares. But, those are my preferences. Yours may be different.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
