My Christmas Present

Here they are, my very first Camco kit and an Oaklawn to boot. The kit has been refinished, t-rods, claws, floor tom legs and bottom tom hoops are not original, it's also missing the mufflers, but it's an Oaklawn Camco. The shells, edges, lugs and badges are all in great condition.

It has good coated Ambassadors on top and bottom of toms, the kick has a coated Powerstroke, just need to replace kick front head and get a Camco logo sticker.

I can't wait to get them to my rehearsal room.Cool1

I also have the opportunity to buy a historic item. I can buy the hatchet that young George Washington used to chop down his father's cherry tree for a bargain price of only $25,000. The hatchet is all original except that the head was replaced about a hundred years ago and the current handle is either the fourth or fifth one for the hatchet.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

There was a Camco set for sale for a while up here on CL. They were natural wood finish and looked like the set Doug Clifford used in Creedence. I think the guy wanted $1200 for them. They had a couple of modifications. I considered them for a NY minute and then moved on.

Hey, I've never owned a Camco, this was my chance to buy one without breaking the bank. I see what all original ones sell for, especially those in this configuration. Besides, there are no extra holes and all the hardware that's not original can be found if I choose to do so.

I recently switched to a vintage Camco kit. As I was taking them apart to clean it up, wow, talk about superior build quality. Attention to detail, rock-solid parts, super easy to tune, and they sound amazing. Like cleaning a Cadillac.
