More buyer problems.... Last viewed: 20 seconds ago

Why is it when the shipping carrier screws up and loses the contents of the package the buyer thinks he is entitled to a refund from the seller? The issue is with the shipping carrier that destroyed the box not the seller! This is why you pay the extra $1.25 for insurance people! DOH

I told the buyer to take it up with ebay and paypal for a claim. The tracking info says that he REFUSED the package AFTER it was delivered! Good luck with getting a refund from me. How am I to know that the box was empty when it got there when I'm contacted two full days AFTER it was delivered and ONE day after it was "refused".......agian, good luck!

I'm starting to remember why I stopped selling on ebay the first time! DOH

Ebay sucks.

My dad has a business selling antiques, he

complains about the problems involved with

being a seller on a pretty regular basis.

Although buying is pretty convenient.

Insurance is mandatory, that solves all issues.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Yes well if the buyer is too cheap to purchase it, the loss is his problem in my eyes.....

If you use the eBay shipping calculator, eBay changed the rules on this recently and made Insurance up to the seller. It is no longer an option in the shipping system.

In the past you had three options for insurance. They are all gone on the selling pages now.

There is also an option to add a handling charge. I put my insurance in there.

Then when someone purchase an item they know the shipping up front and they can decide to buy or not.

Well....the problem I'm having is this guy claims it wasn't in the box, which I know is impossible since I sent it in a nearly indestructable box and sealed it with the strongest tape known to man. The tracking info states it was delivered, then REFUSED a day later. I get word of this a FULL TWO DAYS AFTER it was shown as delivered. Thing that gets me, the guy sent a note at time of payment: "Please make sure that this is packaged well in a sturdy box with lots of padding".........Hmmmm

Yep, not much you can do now. I have had similar things happen. Is the weight of the package affected by the items?

Once you get your box back it should weigh differently. Not sure of the parts weights.

If he returned a box that weighed less then you might have a leg to stand on.

Once you get burned like this you become even more hardened to selling items. Plus you can't do much with feedback, but he can sure screw you.

These learning lessons make you a better seller and that is why I add the insurance on everything I ship.

For expensive items I have even photographed it in the shipping box. As the seller it is all about protecting yourself.

Unfortunately the saying "The customer is always right" never worked for me because I know I have caught people lying. The problem is PayPal, USPS usually side with the buyer.

Over the years I have developed my own saying which helps me and makes it easier to deal with people. Remember I have 12 years in a retail brick and mortar as the owner.

"The Customer is usually lying, you just got to make them happy"

I never agreed with the saying "the customer is always right".......99% of the time they are wrong because they are always trying to screw the seller in some way.

David, it will weigh considerably less empty....it was a Ludwig clip mount post tom holder. 4lbs at least.......thing is, the USPS will not deliver a box that is opened and empty, they will send it to the dead letter office. Either the box was tampered with after delivery or he is lying to try and get a refund. Also, when I dropped it off it was securely packaged. If it wasn't the postmaster at my post office would have told me its not good enough. They're good like that for me, as I ship a bit with them. I've escalated it to a paypal claim and am letting them review it. He is claiming that it is "significantly not as described" which is a stretch since he claims he never even got it, all he got was an empty box.

I think that paypal would find in my favor since the item was delivered, then refused, and that the buyer opted out on insurance.

Well those idiots at Paypal found in favor of the buyer! There is no justice!! DOH

SO......I called Paypal to complain and they decided to see it my way and reverse the payment reversal! I gotta tell you guys though.....I am done with selling on ebay. No more, done. Buying on ebay, maybe....if only I can't find something anywhere else.....
