Montgomery Ward, Sears, Spiegel Catalog drum sets?

Okay...some of you guys are old enough to remember these catalogs. Every year, seasonally, the new catalogs would arrive -thick as a phone book! And, if you were like me, you would go right to the musical instrument pages to see if there were any new cool-looking pictures of drums. Anyone?

These catalogs were such a part of displaying the things I wanted in my life, I can't even explain it. My first good Avedis Zildjian cymbals were ordered from one of those catalogs (I forget which one at the moment). I still have my 20" medium ride cymbal from those days -must have been about 1971 or so. Can you believe it? You could get Avedis Zildjians from a Montgomery Ward catalog! (I think it was M.W., anyway).

It would sure be cool if anyone had scans of some of those old catalogs' musical instrument pages! Believe it or not, these old catalogs SELL on EBay! I guess there are lots of nostalgia buffs out there!

The Christmas catalogs were off the hook!

Yeah - people laugh at the thought nowadays - but 'fer sure back in the day a lotta reputable instrument makers had contracts with these places ! 'Silvertone' horns were a Sears stencil name, for example, and they were made by BlG companies and are very decent instruments. l also recall reading that Pearl used to make kits for JCPenny. And sure, l have seen instruments inscribed "Montgomery Ward" too !!!!

Star and Pearl both made the drums for these guys as well.

Scans you say? BAM! http://www.flickr.com/photos/wishbook/sets/

Yes, the drum kits are in there. I tried to attach some, but the scans are too big.

Oh, man! That's cool. But it will take me forever to figure out where the drums are! LOL!
