MIJ Wrap Finishes-Let's Rank 'Em-Popular To Rare

Loading...

I love a good glitter sparkle wrap but I really dig the more crazy wraps. I recently decided to re-wrap a Majestic but had a hard time finding anything eye catching that had the vibe of the best stencil kits.

Then a guy in NY popped up with a few cool offerings. I went with the zebra pattern. Then a month later he comes up with an even cooler copper/pearl strata kinda wrap which I would have picked over the zebra. Doh!

He gets stuff that has the vibe.

The Zebra is a beautiful wrap, then the copper Pearl is even cooler. I am like you and love the off the wall vintage wraps. I think Kenwood would agree ! I also think that Magnus needs to take notice. What do you think my friend......

I was informed that this is a "non-Star Hoshino" kit. A fellow forum member who has the identical kit with the identical wrap calls it a black & gold sparkle Tiger finish. I'm not sure if this one was ever "officially catalogued" as such, but I believe that it's pretty rare.

Those are some power toms! It's like having a three floor tom kit, with two of them in the rack tom position!

I just picked up a early 70's (I believe) Star kit, in the cool and rare 'Tiger Pearl' wrap. The kit includes two racks, floor and bass. I traded a Pearl Export snare and a 70's Zildjian 20" ride for them.

I'll strip them down, give them a good cleaning, polish, white lithium grease for the lugs, etc. I'll put new heads on them as well, except for the front BD head...love that weathered, yellow Star one.

Very happy with this score.

Cheers.

Trilok,

That Star kit is bad a$$! Trades, especially ones like that, are even sweeter than a bargain price cash purchase. I'm sure Ralf will want a pic of it for his site when it's all done.

Happy Thanksgiving,

AL
