I'm lost on finding any information on my Vistalites. Mainly the bass drum which is 18 inches. Toms are 12, 13, and a 14 inch floor tom. I have not found any information that Ludwig ever made a 18 inch bass drum in the Vistalite model. Thanks. This is my first forum ever so please forgive me while I learn the proper etiquette.
Ludwig Vistalite size question
welcome...would love to see any pics. I would assume the bass drum is a converted floor tom. ive never seen an 18" vistalite bass drum. Ludwig would let you special order items however..

+1 with mike here !
Good thoughts. How does one explain the hoops, however. I bought this set used 20 plus years ago. It never had the Ludwig badges but, Ludwig is printed on the hardware which includes the tom holder. The hoops have the silver sparkle in the center. There are holes adjacent to the tom stand. I will try to get some pictures if I can figure out how to post them.
Thanks
I'd like to know the depth of that 18" bass. I have seen 16" and 18" Vistalite marching toms, so it's possible this 18" bass was a custom order with Ludwig using the 18" marching shell rather than the 18" floor tom shell. Or... it could be a homemade bass using an old marching timp tom (that might explain some mysterious holes in the shell).

The depth from head to head is 11 inches and 15 inches from outside of hoop to hoop. I am unable to resize my pictures to upload at this time. Thanks for the pictures of the marching drums. There are hoops on both sides of the bass drum, however.

The photo is too small to see any details... I have a 20" clear vista floor tom that I'm told was a special order that wasn't offered standard on shell packs. I would think it would be possible for that to be the case with your 18" bass drum though.

Thanks and beautiful set. I had a difficult time attaching a picture to the required parameters. Once I got the picture small enough to post, it is now hard to see. I will try again at my first opportunity to post a new picture. I just can't figure out if it was modified. I don't see how anyone could have done that. The extra holes near the tom stand is probably a clue. I think originally it may have had the bar type hardware.
Thanks for responding.
Regarding my 18 inch Vistalite bass drum. I have noticed that the tom holder is towards the pedal side of the drum whereas other bass drums, the tom holder is in the middle of the bass drum.
