Ludwig Vistalite size question

in the 60's Ludwig had some 18" bass drums that had the center tom mount near the batter hoop. they used the upper portion of a snare stand with a small snare in there as a stand up cocktail kit. they called it the gold coast cocktail kit. ive never seen that in a 70's kit though and especially not a vistalite.

Thanks. That is interesting. The Vistalites didn't come out until the 70's. I will research that cocktail kit.

Hopefully, this is easier to see.

Much better pic. If this is indeed an 18" Vistalite cocktail bass, this might be a very rare piece. Very cool, but I'd replace that pillow with a clear, inflatable one x-mas3

So how did you come upon this unusual set? Are you keeping it, gigging it, selling it?

Yea that pillow is ugly but, it hides the seam crack that was reglued (or something) way back when. I found it in an ad in the local newspaper maybe 20 to 25 years ago when I was looking for a practice set. I really never used it but kept it because I had the room. Recently, I discovered I might have a gem. Now I am moving and will not have the room to keep it so I think I will have to sell it. The set came with a spur-lok hi-hat for which may be indicative of it's true age. I just don't know. I had to sell my old red sparkle Pearl set last week and I may end up selling this on Craigslist or Ebay. Thanks for responding!

I would buy a 16X16 floor tom from you if you have one for sale!

I only have the 14 inch floor tom. I am only interested in sailing the set as a whole.

I own a 1979 Vistalite in Bonham sizes 26, 20, 18 15, 14.......necer heard of a n 18' kick existing, but they sure do make mammoth sized ones. They make beautiful reissues in large sizes. Good hunting....

You are going to sail in them?

Good choice on fiberglass instead of wood drums....electricit

Hey. Not sure if you're making fun of my spelling of "sailing." Sorry for the typo. Yes I will be selling them. I wanted to know what they are worth first. I can't, however, confirm that the bass drum is part of a cocktail set. Thanks for taking the time for your comment.
