Ludwig Vintage Drums

Here's another kit I'm thinking about buying for $400. The owner says it's from 1965 and the Club Date floor is just faded, it hasn't been re-wrapped. It's a black galaxy finish. The only real issue is part of the wrap is peeling off bottom of kick.

Good deal?

Galaxy wraps are tough to come by. The one spur does not look original??

For $400 it is a very good deal . . . IMHO

Don't wanna start a panic, but if I remember correctly I saw this kit posted somewhere else and there are quite a few problems with it not evident in these pictures. The consensus was the asking price was far too high. I'll see if I can find where that discussion was. It would have been on Facebook or DFO.

That would be great, the owner isn't saying much, starting to raise some red flags.

Well it looks damn good from here, what are the red flags? I would have bought them by now, probably.

Thank you!

The owner won't send anymore pictures or answer any questions about any other issues. After the initial text when he said he'd do $400 he sent that one picture of kick that was already on the cl add. He's in Austin and I don't want to drive out there from San Antonio unless I know all the details.

I don`t like to deal with sellers like that...If they won`t provide the info and pics the potential buyer is asking for in a reasonable amount of time, then, they are not really motivated to sell the item...Or, they are trying to hide something...

I would pass...

Cheers

I can't find the discussion I mentioned. If I manage to come across it I'll let you know.

Depends how bad you guys want to make a deal. He may already have priced this kit low to account for the issues (which is likely more than just a faded floor tom). Off the bat I would just consider that he knows exactly what he's got. Now, I'm making a geographical assumption here being that the kit is in Austin and he's a player/collector and this probably isn't his only kit that he got and played then abandoned in the summer of '65... but who knows I could be wrong.

So I'd be considering some issue with the shell(s) like additional holes or some split in the shell / delamination and deciding whether or not I would want one of those repairs to be part of the project. A 200-mile round trip isn't too much if the kit is relatively free of issues. And a 200-mile round trip isn't too much too save yourself a fistful of dollars and some headaches. Justify it further by planning to see a band in Austin and then just "making" a side trip to see the kit.
