Ludwig Standard Drums

So this guy in Austin wants to trade me this Ludwig Standard and a little cash for my Ludwig walnut cortex kit. Does this look like avocado wrap?

Not a great photo to judge by but that could be avocado. It could also be blue Strata which is probably the most common of the Strata wraps. Either would sound good but avocado drums tend to be worth more due to being harder to find.

Kind of odd if that's a 22 coupled with a 12 & 14. Usually there would be a 20" bass coupled with those sized toms, but of course anything is possible.

Based on your second picture, it does look like Avocado Strata. And, K.O. is correct about the drum sizes. The Standard kits were basically pre-packaged, with sizes like 12/14/20, 13/16/22 and 12/13/16/22. It was probably possible to order different sizes, but the vast majority of purchasers of the Standard kit ordered what was offered in the catalog. I know there were separate part numbers and prices for each individual drum.

The 20 had ten lugs too, those kinda look close to me, one in the center one on either side just on top.

He told me it's a 12,14,22, the kit has a few minor issues, one kick hoop is metal, non-original t-rods on one side, rack is a bit faded and a minor lift on floor. They are not as clean as my kit, but they are the rarer avocado finish.

Yeah, that's Avocado. very cool.

Looking again at the first picture I think I'm seeing 8 lugs on the bass drum which would make it a 20" and make a lot more sense. I have two Standard sets in the 12/14/20 configuration and they sound every bit as good as the coveted Down Beat classic sets (as well they should as they are essentially the exact same thing save for the lug design and the wraps).

Pretty desirable set all around in those sizes in that color. Certainly more desirable, and flippable, than Walnut Cortex is ever likely to be.

This kit may had been a special order, there is a cymbal mount on the kick, which indicates it would had only the one mounted tom.
