Ludwig speed king

Loading...

Anyone else have a Ludwig speed king with this type of rocker assembly? I own 10 speed kings this is the only one that has this, It looks to be factory as it is attached with a factory looking rivet. The last pic is what all the other speed kings I have look like.

That's sure different. Maybe it was a way for LW to use the crossbar assy's that broke during the casting/machine/plating process? Or perhaps sold as factory seconds? Is that little nub that straddles on top rubber or aluminum? Looks like it's there to assist the pedal hinge bar from coming off. Interesting.

Here's mine Mark. The rocker assembly in your first three pictures look very close to mine.

I am just guessing, but it looks like the ears on yours might have broke off and someone fabricated the piece that's on yours?

I don't believe this is a very well done repair, This is to intricate the parts have been formed and built for this application.

Boy, that's weird. It does look like a fabricated "add-on" piece, but who would go through all that trouble of machining a part when a simple eye-bolt could have been drilled into the broken rocker arm to accept the linking piece? I've had only eight Speed Kings pass through my hands (and feet) over the years, but never saw anything like that.

Agreed I've owned a boat load of speed kings. I have 10 now. Why would someone go to the trouble of machining a part, when as you mentioned Mchair303 a simple fix would suffice. I believe this is factory.

Ya think it`s one of those reversible pedals for the cocktail kit ? Maybe ?? or a cymbal pedal, those I`ve seen too.

That was my 1st thought also. But Definitely not the reversible pedal. I've never seen the cymbal pedal? have a pic of one? This pedal came from a early 60's ludwig kit.
