Ludwig Downbeat / Keep - Sell - Part? Help Please!

Don't EVER part out a kit......nothing bugs me more than when I see a whole kit listed on ebay as seperate auctions.......you won't make any more money selling them seperately and also, don't ever part out the individual drums! That bugs me even more when I see that happen! I have a bass drum for sale on here that I bought off of ebay as a shell only, not even the badge. Then the idiot who parted it out listed all the parts on ebay the DAY AFTER I won his auction, including the badge! Guess he thought he'd make more money that way. I immediately contacted him asking how much for all the parts so I could put the drum back together. We settled on a price and he pulled the auctions and now the drum is complete like it SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE! Some people's children, I swear! :confused:Soap Box

If I had the ready cash, I would buy them outright. I am at present putting together a small Luddy jazz kit. If you would want to do a trade with some cash, I would be interested. Thanks.

Parting out a classic vintage kit is a crime akin to separating children and creating orphans. There are even web sales sites that sell poor little "orphan" toms. It's likely these orphans will find a good home but the tragedy of never seeing family again, only 2nd or 3rd cousins is heart wrenchingViolin

Furthemore, parting out takes this crime a step further, like torture or dismembering. The end result leaves the victim an "empty shell"....

From the pictures we all see a happy, contented family unit. Please keep it that way if possible :)

Based on many discussion with purists I know...you'll be much better off selling it whole...to repeat what many other have said here...DO NOT part it. The complete kit...and serial numbers...in the long run...will make for a better deal...if and when...you decide to sell.

You know it's like hindsight...shoulda...coulda...woulda.
