OK...so, some years ago you were fortunate enough to purchase a 1968 Ludwig WMP Downbeat kit (20/12/14) at a more than reasonable price. Except for some surface rust on the rims of the toms, it's in really clean condition, both functionally and cosmetically. The prior owner, a jazz drummer, had an extra Ludwig rail consolette mounted on the bass drum so that, when desired, the kit could be played with two rack toms. Other than two small holes located vertically above the keystone badge on the bass drum shell, which are covered (one with a Ludwig metal washer), there are no extra holes in any of the shells and the original WMP wrap has faded evenly on all three pieces.
You've now got a choice of selling the kit "as is", parting the kit out, keeping the kit "as is", or keeping the kit and hoping that you'll be fortunate enough to find another 20 inch bass drum WITHOUT any modifications with a serial number close to those of the current pieces (648651 / 648606 / 646807).
Based on the pics that I've provided, what would be your choice?
THANKS in advance for your input!
