Ludwig Club Date

Loading...

I did it again, I traded my 2009 Ludwig Classic Maple for this 2016 Ludwig Club Date and he threw in $300.

They are made in the USA with 2ply maple, 3ply poplar, 2ply maple and rounded over edges. They're like vintage drums, very warm and boomy and they're light weight. I'm diggin the look and sound.

I'm not big on wood finishes, but those are nice.

How’s does sound compare to the ones that got away

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

There's not a huge difference in sound compared to the Classic Maples. I use the same heads and tuning on all my kits, so I'm able to pretty much achieve the sound I like on anything I use. That being said, this kit has a warmer tone than the maples, probably due to the maple/poplar/maple shell and the rounded edges. When I first played them I knew it was a winner. The cash on top just made it a sweeter deal. It wasn't an easy decision, I really loved the maples, but I made the right choice.

That's a very nice set of drums. Classy! Your snare blends in as well.

Thanks, that's a pre-serial number Ludwig Pionner snare in a mahogany finish with brass hoops.
