Ludwig Club Date

Loading...

I agree, the vintage Ludwigs do have a certain sound that many love, but I've had a few that weren't so good.

These new Club Dates have basically the same shells minus the re-rings, but because the rounded edges are more precise and the quality control has greatly improved, they tend to have a better tuning range and resonant more than their older brothers.

My facination with 60's Ludwigs has more to do with the time period, that was a great decade for music that will never be duplicated.

Vintage Club dates were only 20/14/12 correct?

Pretty sure that is incorrect, Larry. Ludwig offered 22" basses and 9x13's for certain in center lug form. I know some manufacturers also had the 15" floors. I never can remember if the Big 3 offered 16x16 FTs in clubdate, stage band, or tower lines.
