I think I've made a decision on which kit to buy. Although I prefer vintage drums, I can get this Ludwig Classic Maple kit in a black oyster pearl finish for $1,000 shipped. It's about 10 years old with a 12,13,16,22.
Ludwig Classic Maple
Sounds like a pretty fair deal. If you're used to 3-ply w/re-rings, this set will have a bit more "loudness" or attack in comparison. I think you'll definitely like the sound of the bass.
Build quality is good with the newer Ludwigs, and I think that it also comes with less worry about the care & feeding of a vintage kit.
I had a Classic Maple kit in the downbeat configuration, it sounded fantastic!
They have been asking 1800 for those kits
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Good deal, my friend is selling his with the same finish 2 yrs old 24-14-18 $1300
Now that's the best decision I've ever seen!
You will never look back.
I've had a classic maple set, I bought new about 8 years ago.
I think they are great sounding/easy to tune drums. Your going to
love yours.
Hope it survives the freeze

My Fab Four set from that series is outstanding. You'll love 'em.
They have safely arrived! I don't have the 12 set up, but it looks just as nice.
