As I've stated many times on this forum, I like the things. Just something about 'em.

I do think they will hit a bubble in the collective market. It will most likely resemble the Vistalite bubble - highly desired and then BOOM ... nada. But, there's some money to be had for the prepared.

This finish was one of ludwig's most produced finishes there are bus loads of them, It will never be a sought after collectible finish, back in the 70's when it was introduce, every counter top in america had it in your kitchen!! I know right now where a large kit for sale is if your Interested!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Regardless of the finish, the drums sound great! It might be the least favorite finish, but when you play them they are pure Ludwig! They are a great bargain if you are looking for a vintage kit. Mine are the three ply with re-rings and it's the sound that I love! I'm looking for some 1970 issue (without serial numbers) toms in the following sizes: 10", 12" and 14". My kit has a 24", 18", 16" and two 13" inch toms. Since they are so undesirable, I expect that if someone has some that they want to get rid of, it will be cheap? ; )

I think mine don't have #'s. Need to look. I have the std big beat set: 12,13,16,22.

I think I will look to trade or sell it once I can get it back from my friend who's had them a few years and make sure they're ok.

They were great sounding drums last I played them.

I'm still looking to buy either a 10" or 12" tom with the Butcher Block finish and no serial numbers on the B/O badges. As well, my toms have mufflers, so it would be nice to have toms with them. I found a virgin 1970 14" tom with a muffler in excellent condition.

I have a set of Rogers BBs with 9/72 tags in the shells that are in mint shape - wonder what I could get for them?

70s Slingy WMP
70s Ludwig Standard Aqua Mist
60s Ludwig Champagne Sparkle Downbeat
and a whole bunch of snares and hardware

I too have a 12,13,16,20 kit of Rogers BB with Powertone badges. Got them with an 80's maple 8x14 Dynasonic for $500. I remember lots of them in the mid to late 70's during the Southern California Country Rock era. Most of them "lost" their bottom heads and hoops. I hope they become popular again, I always wanted a kit back in the 70's.

I like mine. They will come back to a degree I believe. Besides all the counter-tops have been replaced.

Nice kit Randy!

Here's my kit. I have since added modern high end Ludwig claws and small end t-rods. It never came with a snare, so I use the Ludwig Black Beauty 6.5" x 14" Supra that I bought new in 1979, or my 6.5" x 14" Supra from 1980 or one of my 5.5" x 14 Supra snares (as shown in the pics). I have a number of Acrolites that I have played with the kit as well. They all sound great with these old tubs.

Randy,

I wanted to tell you that you have great taste in snares! My favorite snare is my 1979 Black Beauty with a pointy B/O badge(6.5" x 14") that I purchased new, followed by my 1980 Supra (6.5" x 14") with a rounded corner B/O badge.

I'm just getting into the Paiste 2002 series cymbals. I have used Avedis Zildjian for over 40 years, so this is an interesting change for me.

One of my favorite kits to play is my 7 piece 1981/2 Ludwig Natural Maple B/O badged Modular kit, with a 22" virgin kick (with four spurs), 16", 14", 13", 12" and 10" power toms. In total, I have 7 vintage Ludwig kits that range from 1966 five piece 20" kick, 16", 13", 12" toms, 1967 three piece, 20" kick, 16" 13" toms, 1970 BB kit 24" kick, 18"" 13", 13" toms, as per the photos, 1975 White Cortex (Octa Plus) with twin 22" kicks, 1979 Mahogany 5 piece, 24" kick, 16", 14" and 13" toms, and a 1980 White Cortex 6 piece, 22" kick, 18", 16", 14", 13", 12" toms. I have Ludwig fever! Keep on Pl
