It's hard to believe that they'd name a set of drums that!
I thought that name was taken. :)
But then look at the Apple Computer Company - calls the company Apple when the Beatles owned the name, called their product Macintosh when there was already a stereo company by that name, and calls their software names like Jaguar (?). I keep expecting them to come out with a new "Pepsi" version and act surprised when someone tells them about the soft drink.
Good luck on the new drooms!
Ok Y'all. I picked up my Black Panthers! They are in pretty good shape, except for some missin tension rods, bass drum spurs, Bass drum t rods, heads, one tom has some water damage inside the shell, the floor tom has a little dent in it. I had never heard of these untill i mentioned it on here. Next it will be on the the restoring vintage section of the forum. Sizes 12-13-16-22
Welcome to the Black Panther owners club. It's a nice place. Welcome
WTF you find more stuff up in the panhandle then we have here in the Metromess!!! Great score!!!
Mike
Anything special underneath the wrap???????
I read that there might be a more collectable wrap under the black panther wrap. Orange mod or something like that. I havent looked. Tomorrow is my Birthday and i suprised my self and gave me the black panther luddy's. After the smoke clears, and all my b day jammin is done. I'll get my readin glasses out and examine my black panthers. I love the fact that hendrix's drummer played these at woodstock, but lost 1/2 of his double bass kit, and never retreived them. but alas, mine is a 4 liece kit, if it had been a 2 piece kit, I might have had a piece of real history!
NONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!! How many times have I got to say this. DO NOT ENCOURAGE THIS! Its been found 1 in 100 times....it was not a regular occurance. Black Panther is a rare color as it is, so LEAVE THEM BE!
ok, I'm off the Soap Box

Probably not, since the lost sizes were a 14x26 bass drum and a 10x14 rack tom....x-mas3 and they were quite distinctive with double Rogers swivomatic spurs and mounts

Ludwig used the name in reference to the finish and not the name or model of the actual drums. And they had it LOOOONG before Mapex ever even thought about naming their snare drums that....maybe Ludwig has a pending lawsuit with Mapex...hmmmm
