I don't think the quality of the research backing the claims in the eBay listing is as good as the quality of research on this site. Or at least, without proper references I can't tell. Is there really such a thing as Ludwig "stainless steel wrap" or are we talking the chrome-o-wood I'm familiar with?

I'd say this picture from the Ebay listing is enough of a proper reference for a chrome over clear Vista. It looks legit to me but I'm not an expert on the subject. It's COV rather than COW. Stainless would be a whole other beast. Also refer to Purdie's post and pics of an outstanding example of COV. And as he also stated, Ludwig did this to Vistalite colors that didn't sell hence my surprise to see it over a clear shell.

Hemi is right... chrome over clear vistalite is a rare-bird. Being able to see adhesive between shell and wrap may be why they didn't make too many of them. It looks funky inside the drums, being able to see the dried, smeared glue through the clear shell. Ugh!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Yes that shell interior is pretty enough for coated heads.
