Yep,

can't have enough snares!

How many snares is that now 27, 28. I guess I need to pare down the collection but which one to sell? The last one I sold, I regret selling, so better to hang onto 'em.

Hi, Kelly,

Perhaps I can help take you out of that "spell" you're under (lol)!Cool Dude

I noticed that in the traffic for this post blue "onyx" was interchanged with the phrase blue "agate." Not having seen the two up close and directly next to eachother I was wondering if they're pretty close in appearance?

I realize that Rogers called its finish "onyx" while Slingerland used the term "agate." I'll be picking up a vintage Slingerland blue agate kit this week and have been looking for a matching snare to go with it.

Unless I'm mistaken, yours is from the Slingerland/Leedy era so my guess is that the correct term for the finish on yours would be "agate" in lieu of "onyx". Would you agree?

Are you still considering selling it? If so, perhaps you could drop me a PM and let me know how much you'd be looking for.

Either way, GREAT looking drum!

I have been under the spell of this drum for quite some time now and I can't stop looking at it, playing it at least once a week and just being freaked out by the wrap! I guess having put so much time into restoring the shell does something to our drum hearts and makes them beat faster ;) for certain drums...

Correct! I suppose in the interest of competition, the two companies chose different names for the wrap "Onyx" vs. "Agate" though likely from the same wrap supplier?

I stand corrected, SlingerLeedy used the term "Blue Agate"

Can't wait to see pics of your new "Blue Agate" kit!!!

I will PM you OldSchool to talk a possible sale and marriage old classics!
