K. Zildjian Constantinople...the worlds most sought after cymbals

Loading...

Most old K people would rather you didn't polish it. The idea is that you have a Stradivarius cymbal that will be around in a thousand years and if every owner polishes it, it will be smooth before long.

If done judiciously (not like you need anger management classes) and only once every 25 years it probably isn't a biggie in my opinion. I would treat that one with care though and don't think it has to be shiny, 'cause most old K fans would rather see green than sheen.

I'll bet that's a great cymbal.

I just got a set of 12" K Zildjian Constantinople hihat cymbals - weight 503 and 836 grammes, no damages whatsoever.

Pics - click on them for large versions, click again for mega:

Dark, jazzy hats....

I want to sell them for a fair price - I know they aren´t common, but I am not unrealistic and don´t expect thousands of dollars.

Make a bid?

I live in Denmark, but see no problem in arranging transport to anywhere. At buyers expense, of course....

You can mail me at jon.petersen@live.dk

Hi Jon.

They are nice, and a decent weight. Probably the equivalent of medium weight, for 12 inchers.

Generally, this site isn't an auction site. If you would like to sell them, great. But if you want competition between bidding Forum members here, that is generally inappropriate for this Forum.

Please name your price, and note you are open to best offers.

Also, maybe create a new thread for this to the For Sale section.

Again, nice-looking hats. Good luck with them.

They had a bark just as loud as any pair of 14's I ever had.

Point taken, and really the main idea about showing them here was - showing them.

I have made a post under "for sale".

Sure wish they'd float over to my place.

I have one..........Eye Ball NOT !

But I did inherit this recently and MAN is it a nice sounding cymbal!

I have 14 Istanbul Agops - they're beauties, but this one.......is King over here - for sure.

I would love hear - or better - see and play one of those old K's used in the big symphony orchestras of the past.. Here's mine - I'll pretend with this one - it's as close as I can get for now haha

Very cool looking cymbal. I especially like the hammering. Its a nice odd size too, which is rare. I personally like odd sizes even better than the normal ones.

Although its not a Constantinople, still a beautiful cymbal. And I'm sure it sounds great.

I'm sure that one's a keeper. Do you know how much it weighs?

I don't know the true weight - and you're not the first person to ask me that.

I've weighed it on some scales here at home and it looks like it weighs about 1587 grams - maybe a bit more - I'll have to get some good scales for an accuarate measurement.

I was playing it tonight and it's one nice cymbal. I have all my regular kit drums packed away (it's been more than 2 months now - renovations). But - now that I'm almost finished restoring this 1958 Gretsch kit - I've set them up and it's my kit for the unforseeible future! I love these drums! I'll leave my other Gretsch packed away.

I've wanted an old set of Gretsch for decades........now I got em - and a nice K Zil to go with them.

The vast majority of Constantinoples were band or orchestral cymbals. Here's an extremely rare example of one that is not. This late era 20" is made for dance band use and is thin:
