Mikey, PM'ing you. Jonnistix, I'll try some other heads and measure this snare and see....
Good Matt. I hope after he sees my kit he will get just a little inspiration. MAybe a lot. The truth is these poor old, rotten sounding drums really don't sound all that rotten, if you can get someone to pay a little attention to them. Maybe you can get him involved in the project over a 6 pack. Get the shells stripped and get the sandpaper out and just sit down and B/S for a while. Take 2 grades, 100 then 220. The truth is you will be done in about an hour or so, with all three drums. You only want to close the grain, not really taking off any serious amount of wood. Then a couple of throw away brushes, a can of lacquer from Lowe's, it's a blue-ish grey label, and some coat hangers, and man, it is a done deal. While they hang out and cure, you are wating for few days for the heads to arrive and viola, they are complete!
Check this, I am going to show you how to get the best deal on heads, Go here: http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-ATT-DHAPACKB
then go here and call, telling them you want them to beat the other guy, they garauntee they will beat anyone, then sit back and wait!
