Olimpass: Awesome vistalites! And loving the pedals on the classics.

Thanks zacxzac! The Vistalites were a pieced together kit which the 13,14 and 15" concert toms were a guitarist friends. I found a bass drum on-line and made a bass mounted tom holder with conduit and electrical fittings. I flattened out the end of the conduit and bolted on a u-shaped piece for the clip style mounts that were on the toms. The Ludwig kit is actually a Downbeat with an added 16" MIJ, "Jet" brand blue sparkle floor tom. I have it pictured with 2 different snares also.

Great Strata wrap on your Standards!

Here's my JUL 15 1966 brass keystone badge #365083 COS Supra-Phonic 400 before cleaning (except for the panel with the badge). Original heads, no mods, no pitting, 100% original. The same applies to my entire 1967 Ludwig kit.

Check out my receipt for this snare in my set on Flickr:

ok ... I'll play. I don't own too many Ludwigs these days. The ears have matured a different direction this season. Don't miss 'em, but they were fun while they hung around.

Here's a couple of many Ludwig kits that have made their way through ... and a Ruby Standard 14 floor.

Here's a couple of the many Ludwig snares that have blown through recently. Still own one or two of these. There are others.

RE: the 14 ruby Standard tom ...

I try to make it a point to help out drummers in need (that's why so many kits fly through my house). I was in contact with a respected vintage drum dealer who had a ruby Standard kit that was short the 14 floor. Right, Wrong, or Indifferent, I wanted to do him a favor by completing the kit he had and sent him pics of the beautifully preserved floor tom. He liked it and was impressed with it. I sent it out to him with a nice note and called me back fairly quickly. He complained because it didn't perfectly match his kit. He was verbally abusive on the phone and never EVER considered what it was that I had done for him. For whatever reason, he was incredibly unappreciative. So, it became a headache for me and a pool of grief. I have never done business with the gent since and have obviously stopped recommending his business to others.

That's the beauty of the Stratas, they aren't supposed to match perfectly...

I'd paid for it and been really appreciative...

It's never nice when people don't appreciate the time/effort that goes into sourcing drum gear. I've not had anything that bad, but similar enough.

Not fun.

A new addition to the family...Downbeat in the key of 1960s. I just gave this a workout in funk tonight.
