Is It Me or Do other's Feel The same way

I agree that ebay is the way to go.

It seems that an underlying point of view might be involved with this issue. Do we here on the forum basically want to 1) protect our chance to buy a drum that is under priced and 2) sell a drum at a profit ourselves?

I hope we just maintain our integrity here with all you folks with a great knowledge trying to help those like me who came here because there is integrity on this forum, and let the cards fall where they may.

I just added this under the forum section about value. "Please search the forum prior to posting here and also use eBay to search completed drums. If none of that helps, then ask it in this section." I will also add a sticky with more helpful information about finding a value. That might cut down on a lot of the questions. David

Funny thing about this David......I just checked the forum as soon as I got home from work....first post under "what's it worth" is a newbie asking what a set of camco's are worth? DOH Doesn't anybody read anymore?? LOL!

... and the first response is an "I'll buy it if you want", with no price given. No offense meant. Just thought it was funny.

In my case...no. I have purchased parts for restoration projects from other members before, but not much else. I either buy from ebay or find stuff locally. And as a side note....most of the restoration projects I've done recently, when I have resold, I've pretty much broken even or made a SMALL profit, not huge, just small if at all.....my luck isn't that good ;) :D

Ludwig-dude - Please don't think I was pointing a finger at you or anybody else. It seemed more like the sum of all of our replies might have this underlying issue but I might be looking to deep. I apologize if my remarks insulted anyone!

Remember that recent Wilson Brothers snare drum that came up for auction? I was looking at it when it was at like $16.00 and thinking, "Wow! If no one else sees this, then I might bid on it, if it stays low." And then, the next thing I know, it comes up on about three different drum discussion forums! lol! There are no secrets anymore! Everyone has got sixteen radar screens going at all times for any *blips* that register! Damn interwebs! It's sometimes a love/hate relationship! Burger Kin

So, I didn't get it, but fellow forum member, Kona, did get it and will undoubtedly give it a good home. Cool!

I actually met Mcjnic through a similar circumstance last year...

We were both bidding on the same set (we didn't know it, of course), and he won the auction, and posted the eBay picture before it even arrived at his home.

He said he was really just after the stands and snare.

I really wanted the set, so I PMd him, and a couple of phone calls later, we worked out a deal.

This was my dream set back in the late seventies that I couldn't afford to buy.

I was 18 years old......WOW !!!

1977 Modern Solo Outfit in Sparkling Red Pearl ..... there could be nothing finer !!

Thanks to a very kind gentleman I respect around here and this Forum, I've got my dream set......... 32 years late, but still nothing finer !!!
