Hi everyone LoLoLoLo

I have a Ludwig Cymbal Stand that was given to me about 10 years ago, and I would like to know what model it is, approximate years it was made, etc.

Thanks!

JB,

That’s a modern Ludwig Atlas stand still in production today. See Page 26 of the attachment.

Hey Josh,

While it looks similar to a modern Atlas stand, I think JB's stand was one of those that came with lower-line kits and not available separately. I could be wrong, but I've these before with pre-packaged kits.

Hi guys!

I looked up the current version Ludwig Atlas Cymbal Stands, but they don't have the "drum key" style wing nuts, and they don't have the red Ludwig Logo sticker shown on Photo 5.

Thanks,

J.B.

That's the Ludwig LT126 flat based cymbal stand which was discontinued when the Atlas line was introduced. I have a dozen or so of them as they are a personal favorite. They are light but sturdy and best of all they use a 6mm post which fits vintage cymbals with a smaller center hole. Not for outdoor use on a windy day but otherwise they work fine and really lighten the load.

After some searching, I found these for sale from a VDF member some years ago... http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=26301

I think they were available from roughly 2005 to 2015, although I'm unsure exactly when they first came out, 2005 was around when I first became aware of them. They were discontinued when the Atlas Classic line came out which was 2015 I think (may have been a year or two earlier).

They were originally about $75 each but places were blowing them out for $35 or so when they were discontinued. I'd probably snag up any more I come across at a good price even though I already have a bunch (I have four of them in each of my three hardware bags that apply to different sets I gig with).

I just heard back from Ludwig, and here's the reply:

They were in production from early 1990’s to around 2004 or 5.

They were light weight and pretty durable, which is why when they introduced the Atlas line of stands that they added the flat base stands to it. Though the new stands are heavier than the older versions.

Thanks everyone!!!
