I Love The Drums

Loading...

After making this short video of my MIJ kit, on the drive home I realized how much I love playing the drums and how complexed the instrument can be. I'm a self taught drummer and there is so much I don't know, but it's fun and frustrating trying to figure things out. I'm a rock guy who is a frustrated jazz drummer. I play in a little cover band playing shuffles and your typical bar band grooves. Much of my time is spent trying to be heard over the guitarist and loud monitors. Today, I went a bit out of my element, trying to play softer. Anyway, please be kind, I'm kind of a sloppy guy and I love sloppy drummers, so a bit of me is coming out. There's a bit of a balancing act with the ride tom towards the end of the video, but believe me, it was all planned.DOH

I'm a self taught guy myself. Honestly I think any good and true musician can admit there is plenty they don't know. Music is so diverse and complex that a lot of fun for me is in discovery of new beats, grooves, time signatures,etc... I'm digging what you're laying down. Good drummer in my book.

I'm with Mark, Mark. Those MIJ jobs sounded great under your sticking. Nice open sounding drums - all of them. That must be a keeper set if there ever was one. What sizes?

I did notice the small tom was a bit scared of you and tried to get away a couple of times. You need to discipline him with a Swivomatic mount.FYI

Wunderbar! Who needs a Ludwig or Rogers when you have those babies. You've been listening to the old jazz guys, haven't you. Nice playing.

Always enjoy your videos Mark. I think you play very good, I cant play that good and have been taking lessons for almost a year, besides teaching myself for the past several years.

And I like to stab my ride tom with my stick once in a while. And the drums sound really nice, glad know one used them for firewood.

Thank you!

Thanks Dan, the kit has a 12,14,20,14. That's a good idea with the swivomatic mount.
