Hello Everybody!
After digging through this forum for ages (and pages), I finally got around to registering here. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge! I have always thought that Premier drums were impressive. I picked up an Artist Heritage club kit last year (Made in the Leicester factory, looks to be their 1st gen.) & it has pretty well become my go-to kit for small & medium gigs. It's he best little kit that i could imagine owning. For the last few years I've gigged with a kit comprised of Yamaha SC toms & an 18" beech custom kick, kind of a compromise between hip-gig & rock kit. Now I need a "serious" kick & have bee thinkin' why not a vintage Premier! This one is for sale in my region, but has me stumped...I've googled the hell out of it, been through the Premier catalogs & I figure it's early 70's (post-metric, hopefully), but it could be older, with newer tom mount and bass drum spurs added later. It looks similar to a 303 type fusion kit with a new era piccolo snare, but I can' find any inf on the tom mount. I have seen a pic or 2 with a single tube tom mount that goes through the tom into a chevron formed holder on tom. but not this double one. I believe Premier changed their tom mounts in 1972, but at points they've been known to use up old Olympic stock. Also the attachment for cymbal arm on the kick leads me to believe it could be older.
Any thoughts on age and possible value (though I probably won't flip it) would be very helpful. Hopefully Mikey will chime in on this post!
btw he is asking around $350 Canadian for this kit, so I kinda have to be quick! & thanks for reading my long impassioned rant (if you got this far)!
