I sent a PM to Bermuda on Drummer World a couple weeks ago. I wanted to let him know that his drumming with Weird Al was my introduction to modern pop drumming, seeing as my parents weren't about to let me buy a Chili Peppers album when I was 8 years old, and that he and the band were one of my first musical inspirations. He responded and it's just about been the highlight of my month!

Bermuda [John] is a very nice guy. Approachable, enthusiastic about his drums and willing to share his experience. Much like the late Tommy Wells who hung his hat at the DFO for years..I still miss him.

When Joe English was with Sea Level I asked him what kind of ride he was playing. His reply, "How the f*ck should I know!"

LoLoLoLo

Johnny Craviotto called my house on a Sunday afternoon after I sent an email to his company regarding a Solid Cocobolo shell snare drum I once had. He verified that there were only 3 in the 4x14 size.

Couldn't believe it!

What a nice, laid back dude!Cool1

Yes, but I promised never to reveal his identity so I won't. :D

Some years ago I rounded up some drummers to help me put a floor tom together for Mike Layton as a 'presentation drum.' It was meant as a thank you for all he does for everybody. What made the drum special was the impossible to find wrap. Everybody I asked was really cool about contributing parts for Mike's drum. Getting the drum together was the easy part, the wrap was something else. I approached a very well-known drummer (Ludwig endorser) to see if he could help me secure a piece of this 'mission impossible' wrap large enough to cover the floor tom I was putting together. He was not only happy to do it, he made the calls and spoke to the right people and made it happen. All he asked me in return was to please never reveal his identity. I'm sure he didn't want to get the wave of requests that would have followed if people learned of what he did.

Famous drummers are just people. As with all people, some are more sociable than others. I just got real lucky and ran up on a guy who is as decent, generous and big heart-ed as they come.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
